44050 Russia Road Welcome to Lorain County Regional Airport Our Mission: To serve as a safe and reliable general aviation reliever airport while supporting the economic well being of Lorain County and enhancing community awareness of aviation and the airport. Background: The Lorain County Regional Airport is a distinct political subdivision of the State of Ohio. The Lorain County Board of Commissioners appoints the Governing Board and funds the operation of the airport. Currently, there are three (3) airport board members. Regular Authority Board meetings are held on a monthly basis, the third Wednesday of every month at 9:00 a.m. in the fourth floor hearing room of the County Administration Building at 226 Middle Avenue, Elyria, OH 44035. The airport is situated on approximately 1,120 acres in New Russia Township. An Industrial Park encompassing approximately 150 acres adjacent to the airport is available for development. Runway 07/25 is 5,000 ft in length and is 100 ft wide, with a full Instrument Landing System (Airport Facility Data). Providing Air BP fuel, maintenance and other pilot and aircraft amenities, Johnston Aviation Company, is the airport’s full-service Fixed Base Operator (FBO) and is currently managing the airport of behalf of the Authority. Local, State and FAA funding have provided for an FAA approved Airport Master Plan and Airport Layout Plan, improvements to the airport's runway safety areas, new and improved navigational aids, and infrastructure improvements to the airport's Industrial Park. Improvements since 2004 have also included runway rehabilitation and overlay, the addition of a 10 ft perimeter fence, overlay and extension of the airport tarmac, addition of a deicing facility, improvements to the airport lighting system, and the purchase of new snow removal equipment. Johnston Aviation Company has also earmarked improvements to the FBO facilities. In 2006 the Board also authorized the construction and sale of private condominium hangars to promote expansion of the tenant base at the airport. These combined improvements will greatly enhance the Lorain County Regional Airport for its users, tenants, and the citizens and businesses in Lorain County for many years to come.
